When is Give STL Day?

Thursday, May 11, 2017, midnight to midnight

How Do I Give?

This year, we are making it easier than ever to give! You can give in 3 ways:

  1. Pick up a pledge card at Wings of Hope, fill it out and return by May 11 @ 3:00 pm.
  2. Starting April 26, you can go to our Giving Page and schedule your gift to be processed on May 11.
  3. Go to our Giving Page on May 11 and make your donation!

How can I help?

We will be promoting Give STL Day on Facebook, Twitter and email. Share our Facebook posts. Retweet our Tweets. Forward our emails to your friends/colleagues who might have an interest in supporting Wings of Hope. Pick up a few pledge cards and hand them to friends.

What are the campaign goals?

In a word: AWARENESS. We hope to raise money through Give STL Day, but the greater goal is increasing awareness in the St. Louis community about our mission. Last year, we raised more than $73,617 from 161 donors and a very generous $25,000 match. Our goal in 2017 is to increase the NUMBER of donors. Again, this is as much about generating awareness as it is driving donations. It would be a win for us if we had 200 donors, even if the total $$$ raised is lower than last year.

What about last year’s technology glitch?

Give STL Day is a partnership between the St. Louis Community Foundation and area nonprofits. Last year, they used a company called Kimbia to support the online giving platform. Kimbia also hosted several other giving days around the country on May 3 last year. For a number of reasons, Kimbia’s system crashed. This year, the St. Louis Community Foundation is using a different company, CiviCore. In addition, the St. Louis Community Foundation is no longer participating in the national day of giving, Give Local America, which is held on the first Tuesday in May. These two major changes should prevent the type of technology glitch we experienced last year.

Who is CiviCore?

CiviCore is the technology provider that will create the online infrastructure and giving portal platforms for Give STL Day 2017. CiviCore provides technology solutions to some of the country’s biggest giving days, including Colorado Gives and Amplify Austin.

How is St. Louis Community Foundation involved?

They host our Giving Page and use CiviCore to process the online transactions. They promote Give STL Day to local media and get sponsors to provide prizes to nonprofits for hitting key goals (most dollars raised in hour, most unique donations in an hour, etc.). They do not keep any of the donations. The only fees we are charged are a 2.8% processing fee by CiviCore and any credit card fees. (Note: Donors will have the option of covering the processing and credit card fees.)
