Join a Volunteer Community That’s Powered by Purpose
At Wings of Hope, volunteers are the heart of our mission. With a small paid staff and nearly 200 volunteers, we rely on the time, talents, and compassion of people like you to help us change and save lives through the power of aviation.
Whether it’s keeping our aircraft mission-ready, ensuring our facilities run smoothly, supporting patients, lending a hand at events, or helping behind the scenes—our volunteers make it all possible. Their skills and dedication enable us to provide access to life-saving medical care for those who need it most.
When you volunteer with Wings of Hope, you become part of a close-knit community united by service, compassion, and a shared sense of purpose. You’ll see the difference your work makes—and you’ll have fun doing it.
Join Wings of Hope. Make an impact. Be part of something bigger.

Volunteer Spotlight:
Our volunteers are the lifeblood of Wings of Hope. Whether they are in the hangar working on planes or in the front office managing administrative and financial tasks, we depend on them to do mission-critical work that keeps our wings in the air and our operations running smoothly.
Steve Krietemeyer, Post-Flight Team
Steve Krietemeyer brings 47 years of aviation experience to Wings of Hope as a dedicated member of the Post-Flight Team. A retired corporate pilot, Steve joined Wings of Hope in 2012 at the encouragement of fellow pilot Dick Horowitz. Today, he helps ensure aircraft are ready for their next patient mission by checking planes after each flight.
For Steve, volunteering is about putting a lifetime of flying to meaningful use in service of others.
“It’s a good organization — they do a good thing — and it’s a chance to make 47 years of aviation background of some worthwhile use.”
Sue Harrison, Volunteer Fulfillment Team
Sue Harrison is celebrating nearly 10 years of volunteering at Wings of Hope. After retiring from a career in commercial lending, Sue found Wings of Hope through Volunteer Match and quickly became an essential part of the volunteer community. Now a member of the Volunteer Fulfillment Team, she helps support and engage fellow volunteers—and even helped launch the Fun Committee, bringing joy through events, celebrations, and special moments throughout the year.
For Sue, staying active and connected is what volunteering is all about.
“It’s fun, and I get a lot of satisfaction when events turn out well.”
Glen Whittaker, eBay Team
Glen Whittaker has been volunteering with Wings of Hope’s eBay Team for three years, turning donated items into vital support for patient missions. A retired Boeing engineer and private pilot, Glen was drawn to Wings of Hope by its mission and long admired the organization before joining as a volunteer after retirement.
Through the eBay program, Glen helps generate essential revenue that directly supports Wings of Hope’s work—while enjoying the people and the challenge that comes with each unique donation.
“Every dollar we earn helps support Wings of Hope.”
