Grand Prize Details

Grand Prize: 1964 Piper Cherokee 235 (N8623W)

Our 1964 Cherokee 235 is a beautiful example of Piper’s top of the line 4 place, fixed gear design. It has the performance to carry 4 people, full fuel (84 gal in 4 fuel tanks), and over a hundred pounds of luggage (via a large baggage door) with a cruise speed of 150+ mph. It can do this while still taking off and landing on short strips and having a service ceiling of 14,500’ (at gross weight)! The 235 is also known for its reliability incorporating a Lycoming O-540 engine with 2,000 hr TBO, a McCauley fixed pitch propeller, a quickly removeable top cowling, manual flaps, and a center-mounted hand brake lever. To top it off, this 235 has been totally updated including recent overall silver paint, 2-tone leather interior, all windows replaced, along with engine and propeller overhauled. Then our Avionics technicians and volunteers updated the Avionics with all new Garmin equipment:

  • G3X and G5 STBY
  • GMA-345 Audio Panel
  • GNX-375 GPS/Transponder
  • GNC-215 NV/COM
  • GTR-205 COM
  • Remote Units:
    • GAD-27 Power Supply
    • GSU-25 ADAHRS
    • GEA-24 Engine Sensor
    • GMU-11 Magnetometer

The winner of our Fall 2024 Raffle will only be limited by their imagination on where this 235 can take them!

Meet CJ

raffle_cj

Calvin (he prefers CJ) was born with clubfoot. His mom, Leigh, found the best treatment for him with the pediatric orthopedic specialists at Shriners Children’s St. Louis. The only problem was the 9-hour drive — each way — from their home in central Kansas. Since Leigh learned about Wings of Hope, we have flown CJ and his mom two times roundtrip to St. Louis. CJ is doing great, but he will need to keep seeing his Shriners’ team at least until he is 8. Wings of Hope will continue taking care of the travel, so CJ and his family can focus on the important things — like CJ running, jumping, playing and generally being an active 5-year-old kid.

100% of the proceeds from this airplane raffle support our mission of changing and saving lives through the power of aviation — Thank You!

FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do if I don’t get my numbers?

There are many factors that would prevent emails from making it into your inbox, but primarily the culprit is spam and junk mail filters intercepting your mail. Check your spam folder for your ticket number(s).

If you still don’t see them, no problem! Send an email to raffle@wingsofhope.ngo and request to have your ticket numbers re-sent to you. It is important that you include your first and last name, your mailing address, and your email address so that we can properly identify you in the database.

What is the deal with the ticket numbers?

The ticket numbers contain three sets of information, separated by a hyphen:

(Order ID #) – (Raffle Campaign ID) – (Raffle Ticket #)

It is not our intention to make this look confusing. We use this system to prevent duplicate tickets from being issued during high rush ticket sales.

When is the Airplane Raffle drawing?

The drawing will be held on November 15, 2024. Specifics on the time and place will be made available on this page.

Are my raffle ticket purchases tax-exempt?
The cost of a raffle ticket is not deductible as a charitable contribution. The IRS considers a raffle ticket to be a contribution from which you benefit. If you receive a benefit from making a donation, you can only deduct the amount of your donation that is greater than the value of the benefit you receive. The IRS explicitly prohibits deducting the cost of raffle tickets as a charitable contribution.
