Medical Air Transport Pilots

Seeking Volunteer Pilots to support our Medical Relief & Air Transport (MAT) Program at Wings of Hope at Spirit of St. Louis Airport (KSUS) in Chesterfield, MO.

The Job

  • Fly patients in Wings of Hope’s aircraft to health care facilities within an 800-mile radius of our headquarters at Spirit of St. Louis Airport (KSUS) in Chesterfield, Mo.
  • All flights feature a pilot and a co-pilot.
  • Commit to flying 2 flights per month.

The Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1,000 hours total flight time.
  • Instrument certificate, multi-engine land certificate, commercial certificate, at least a third-class FAA medical certificate (no basic med) and some logged multi-engine piston flight experience beyond original training for the multi-engine certificate.

SIS Mentor

As a SOAR into STEM Mentor, you will work with high school students using lessons designed by educators to inspire and educate students about the many exciting possibilities available to them through STEM and aviation careers.

Aircraft Mechanics

Seeking A&P/IA Volunteers to service aircraft at Wings of Hope hangar at Spirit of St. Louis Airport (KSUS) in Chesterfield, MO.

  • Work on single and twin-piston engine aircraft.
  • Be available 1-2 days a week in the Wings of Hope hangar.
  • Also looking for non-licensed but aircraft-experienced maintenance assistants who must have light aircraft refurbishment skill sets.

Facility Maintenance

Seeking Facility Maintenance Volunteers to help maintain the Wings of Hope offices and hangar at Spirit of St. Louis Airport (KSUS) in Chesterfield, MO.

The Job

  • Help maintain the facility and be available to be on site at least one day a week for at least 4 hours.

The Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning)
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical work
  • General carpentry
  • Power and lighting
  • Machine/auto repair
  • Carpentry/drywall
  • Surface repairs (concrete and asphalt)
  • Routine facility maintenance (e.g., painting, building cleanup, replacing light fixtures, etc.)

Volunteers are also expected to:

  • Maintain a current and valid driver’s license.
  • Make trips to local hardware stores (in company or personal vehicles) to purchase building maintenance items, as needed.
  • Be willing to help with things outside the normal scope of work such as set up and break down for special events.

Avionics

Seeking Avionics Volunteers at Wings of Hope hangar at Spirit of St. Louis Airport (KSUS) in Chesterfield, MO.

  • Inspect and test equipment such as radar, radio, navigation, autopilot, and compass systems, installed in aircraft, using hand tools and test equipment:
  • Inspect components of equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wire, and for accuracy of assembly and installation.
  • Test avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective components based on analysis of test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents, using hand tools.
  • Be familiar with Pitot Static and Transponder Checks
  • Adjust frequencies of radio sets by signaling ground station and turning setscrews.

Garden & Grounds

Seeking Garden and Grounds Volunteers to maintain and beautify the landscaping surrounding Wings of Hope’s facility at Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield, MO. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with native plants in a designed garden setting.

The Job

  • Learn to perform a wide range of horticultural tasks and duties. All levels of experience welcome — our current team will guide you, as needed.
  • Responsibilities include watering, weeding, mulching, tree pruning and planting.
  • Certain tasks may demand working from ladders and with power equipment, including a mowing tractor.
  • Be available to be on site at least 6-8 hours per week.

The Qualifications

  • Have a passion for plants and the outdoors.
  • Be capable of bending, stooping and lifting at least 50 pounds.

Seeking IT Volunteers to take care of office-based technology at Wings of Hope at Spirit of St. Louis Airport (KSUS) in Chesterfield, MO.

The Job

  • Address issues with all desktop and laptop computers, the local area network, broadband access for data and voice, telephone system, and various and sundry other smaller technology-based items.
  • Provide support to our users by setting up their access to our network and our cloud based resources through Microsoft 365.
  • Be present to answer questions as much as possible.
  • Maintain outdated technology to maximize use and longevity.
  • Stay up to date with ever-changing technology and plan for future updates and improvements.

The Qualifications

  • Have experience with Microsoft-based technology and as many of their tools as possible.
  • Be available at our facility one day a week.
  • Hold responsibility for completion of required issue fixes.
  • Maintain aptitude to research and fix a problem for which you don’t know the immediate solution.
  • Practice good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to bend, stoop and lift at least 40 pounds.

Director of Development & Communications

Summary

Wings of Hope is searching for an experienced and enthusiastic fundraising professional to fill the Director of Development and Communications position. This person is a member of the leadership team at Wings of Hope and oversees all fundraising activities and internal and external communications for the organization. The Director of Development and Communications plans, coordinates, implements, and oversees strategies to develop donors and contributions to support Wings of Hope. The Director of Development and Communications reports directly to the President and works closely with staff, volunteers, and the Board of Directors to achieve short-, mid- and long-term fundraising and communication goals.

Core duties and responsibilities include the following.

  • Creation and implementation of the annual Development Plan that incorporates a range of strategies including but not limited to annual appeals, corporate and foundation relations, grant funding, and special events. Set annual revenue goals and budgets alongside the CFO and President.
  • Leads all organizational efforts around the strategy, creation, implementation, and management of internal and external communications including communications/production calendar, LIFT bi-annual newsletter, marketing, and communications resources, press releases, annual report, social media, and video productions.
  • Knowledge of major gift efforts and planned giving strategies and vehicles.
  • Oversee the grant writer and coordinate grant management with responsibility to lead the research, relationship cultivation, production coordination, writing, delivery, and follow-up for all current and potential grants. Maintains grant database and formulates an annual timeline for submissions and reporting.
  • Oversee a staff of five.
  • Leadership, planning and coordination of two annual Wings of Hope events.
  • Participates in board and committee meetings as staff development and communications liaison.
  • Participates in strategic and organizational planning efforts.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree and/or CFRE preferred
  • Five or more years of fund development experience with demonstrated success in annual, major, and planned giving.
  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience
  • Grant writing experience with proven track record of success
  • A true interest in humanitarian work and the Wings of Hope mission
  • Goal focused, fundraising professional with a track record of building strong donor relationships
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple and concurrent projects with competing deadlines
  • Familiarity with Moves Management
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of volunteers and staff
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Donor Databases (Raisers Edge knowledge preferred) and social media technologies
  • Flexibility in working hours for occasional special events, after-hours or weekend activities
  • Occasional travel may be required

The Director of Development and Communications is a full-time (40 hours/week), salaried position reporting directly to the President. Generous vacation and holiday time, employee health, vision and dental benefits are included. The salary range is $70,000 – $80,000.
