Event Details

Pull your crew together for Wings of Hope’s 2nd Annual Pulling for Hope plane pull!

Teams of 14 will compete against each pulling a 25-ton Gulfstream III jet in a timed race. All team members must be at least 18 years old, and teams must fund-raise a minimum of $1,000 to compete. All proceeds benefit Wings of Hope.

This family-friendly event is open to the community and free to attend. Guests will enjoy music, kids activities, food trucks, spectator viewing area, and more!

What Teams of eight compete against each other pulling a 15-ton Sabreliner jet in a timed 30-foot pull.
When Oct. 14, 2023, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Each team is given a timeslot to compete (in order of registration). This event will be cancelled only in the event of lightning and/or dangerous weather conditions.

Results from the 2023 Pulling for Hope Event

Your enthusiasm and support in this event are critical to the work we do changing and saving lives around the globe. As we celebrate our 60th anniversary and reflect on six decades of connecting people all over the world with lifesaving medical care, we do so with gratitude for people like you who have powered our mission with your generous support.

Event Details

Join Wings of Hope for the inaugural Pulling for Hope event!

Pull your crew together for a great cause! This plane-pull experience invites teams of eight people or less to compete against each other pulling a 15-ton Sabreliner jet in a timed, thirty (30) foot pull! Teams help “change and save lives through the power of aviation” by raising a minimum of $1,000 per team through peer-to-peer fundraising.

The process is easy: go to register your team’s name, share through your social media channels to start collecting donations, and start training to pull! Participant teams will receive a commemorative t-shirt, lanyard, media coverage and bragging rights!

Fastest timed team will receive a commemorative prize.

You’ll also enjoy:

  • Kid’s Activity Area; featuring face painting, paper airplane contests, cornhole, and more!
  • Food, novelties and beverage trucks from local favorites!
  • Spectators are welcomed and encouraged to come and root for the teams!

Be advised:

  • You’ll need to bring gloves to protect your hands from rope burn.
  • You’ll need to wear rubber soled, closed toe footwear.
  • Media will be invited to attend and film teams.
  • This event will be cancelled only in the event of lightning or dangerous weather conditions.

  • Assemble a team of eight (8). They can be family, friends, co-workers and neighbors, as long as they’re over the age of 18. If someone on your team is unable to attend at the last minute, we will have volunteers at the ready to jump in and complete your team.
  • Create your team by visiting: JustGiving – Pulling for Hope
  • Raise a minimum of $1,000 per team. When your team has met the minimum, you are eligible to receive your choice of time slot and preferred t-shirt sizes. Please send your team members’ names and t-shirt sizes to lena.pak@wingsofhope.ngo.
  • Send a representative to pick up your team members’ packets at Wings of Hope from Thursday, Oct. 5 through Friday, Oct. 13 (9 a.m.-4 p.m.).
  • Pull our 15-ton Sabreliner jet 30 feet.

Yes — please come cheer on the teams! There is no entry fee, but please consider a donation to support our mission of changing and saving lives through the power of aviation. We will have a spectator observation area, and portable chairs are welcome. Note: the viewing area is not covered.

  • Gloves (leather or rubber)
  • Closed-toe shoes with rubber soles
  • Hat (for shade), sunscreen, sunglasses
  • Rain gear, if necessary
  • Event t-shirt provided by Wings of Hope

Please check in one hour ahead of your pull time.

Packets will be available for pick up at Wings of Hope from Thursday, Oct. 5 through Friday, Oct. 13 (9 a.m.-4 p.m.). The packets will contain shirts, required waivers and lanyards.

The event will go on rain or shine. In the event of lightning or dangerous weather, it will be canceled.

The schedule will be posted on the website. Stay tuned.

Mail or drop off at Wings of Hope by Thursday, Oct. 5 to count toward your $1,000 fundraising minimum. Place in an envelope marked: Wings of Hope, Attention: Holly Berthold, 18370 Wings of Hope Blvd., Chesterfield, MO 63005.

All event proceeds support our mission of changing and saving lives through the power of aviation. Some examples of how we could use the proceeds:

  • To pay for flights to medical care in the U.S. or in the other nine countries we serve through our partner field bases
  • To support fly-in medical clinics in remote regions with no access to health care
  • To keep our airplanes maintained and safe for flight

We are happy to charge your credit card for the remaining funds in order to reach the minimum.

Teams and guests can park in the Wings of Hope parking lot, next door at Helicopters, Inc. (18366 Wings of Hope Blvd.) or along Wings of Hope Blvd. Chesterfield Police will be helping direct traffic.

Yes! We will have face painting, crafts and more activities.

Yes! You may purchase food at the following food trucks: Lily’s Desserts, Wayno’s International Cuisine and Pappy’s BBQ.

  • Alcohol will not be served nor allowed at the event.
  • Deliver/mail a check made out to Wings of Hope or cash to Wings of Hope before or on the event day, to the attention of Holly Berthold.
